The maison de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame

The maison de l’Œuvre Notre-Dame has been home to the Foundation of the Œuvre Notre-Dame (the body responsible for administering work on the cathedral) since the Middle Ages. The building is split into two parts: the Gothic house with its crow-stepped gable (1347) and a Renaissance wing with a scroll gable (1582). The building also houses the museum of the Œuvre Notre-Dame, with its collection of Middle Ages and Renaissance arts, which offer a fine illustration of the city’s prestigious past as one of the most important artistic centres of the Germanic Empire1
